A RESOLUTION OF THE GITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, EXFRESSING
THANKS FOR AND APPRECIATION OF THE
CONTRIBUTIONS OF THE MANY CITIZENS AND
BUSINESSES WHO WORKED, INDIVIDUALLY
AND/OR IN COOPERATION WITH OTHERS TO
ADDRESS THE SAFETY NEEDS AND DAMAGE
RESULTING FROM THE JANUARY 2U12 STORM
WHEREAS, the City of Auburn, like so many communities in the Puget
Sound area, was hit with a significant snow and ice storm during January, 2012;
and
WHEREAS, as a result of this storm, many thousands of people who
reside within the Aubum Community suffered property damage, power and utility
outages, and transportation d�culties, further exacerbated by freezing
temperatures; and
WHEREAS, significant damage was done by the storm to trees and
structures, thereby impeding tra�c flows at the same time utility vehicles had the
greatest need to move around to affected areas, to repair damages utility lines
and restore services; and
WHEREAS, notwithstanding the difficulties and challenges the storm
everrt preseMed, citizens and businesses of the Aubum Community came
together to solve the problems caused by the storm, and to assist their neighbors
to address their needs during and after the storm; and,
WHEREAS, the utilities serving the City, Puget Sound Energy, Comcast,
and CenturyLink, worked tirelessly in hazardous conditions to restore service
within the Gity, thereby enabling'its citizens to remain irr or return to their homes

and businesses, and to be able to access information regarding the ongoing
event.
NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF THE CITY
OF AUBURN,WASHINGTON, HEREBY RESOLVES as follows:
Section 1. The City Council expresses its thanks for and appreciation of
the contributions of the many citizens and businesses who worked so tirelessly,
individually and/or in cooperation with others to address the safety needs and
damage resulting from the January 2012 storm.
Section 2. The City Council commends the employees of Fuget Sound
Energy, Comcast, and CenturyLink for their efforts to restore power and service
during the 2012 storm.
Section 3. That this Resolution shall take effect and be in full force
upon passage and signatures hereon.
