A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF AUBWRN, WASHINGTON, SUPPORTING
LEGISLATIVE EFFORTS TO ESTABLISH A;STABLE
REVENUE SOURCE FOR THE GREEN RIVER
COMMUNITY COLLEGE
WHEREAS, the state budget reductions sustained over the past four
years by Green River Community College have diminished resources that are
cri4ical to the College's mission; and
WHEREAS, the education and training students receive at Green River
Community College are critical to the development of a workforce that will
enhance Washington State's economic recovery; and
WHEREAS, the Board' of Trustees of Green River Community College
haye adopted Resolution 2012/1, endorsing legisla4ive efforts to find revenue to
fund and advance the College's mission; and
WHEREAS, a vibrant Green River Community College is an asset not only
ofithe City of Aubum, but of fhe entire state;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL.OF THE CITY OF AUBURN,
HEREBY RESOLVES as follows:
Section 1. That the City of Auburn supports Green River Community
College's mission, and that it encourages fhe State Legislature to use all of its
aufhonty to establish a stable revenue source for Green River Community
College in orderto allow the College to continue serving the citizens of Auburn
and the State ofiWashington.
