HomeMy WebLinkAbout0770 - ~ l.', ~ .. l' --I ,~ j ORDINANCE NO. 770 AN ORDINANCE: Relating to the maintenanoe, repair and renewal of sidewalks and providing that the Gost thereof shall devolve upon the property direGtly abutting thereon; oreating the office of sidewalk inspeotor, designating the City Engineer as ex-offioio suoh inspeotor, and relating to the oompensation to be allowed suoh Sidewalk Inspeotor. and providing that the provisionsof Chapter 37 of the Laws of Washingt~n of the year 1905 shall apply and be enforoed in the clearing, repairing or renewing of all sidewalks or portions of sidewalks in the City of Auburn. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Seotion 1. That there is hereby created, for and as a part of the oity government of the City of Auburn, the offioe of Side- walk Inspeotor; that the City Engineer of the City of Auburn shall be and is hereby designated ex-offioio suoh Sidewalk Inspeotor; and that suoh Sidewalk Inspector be and is hereby oharged with the inspeotion and oare of all sidewalks alOng the publio streets, lanes, squares, plaoes and alleys of the City of Auburn. Section 2. That the duty, burden and expense of maintenanoe, repair and renewal of the sidewalks, or portions thereof, referred to in Seotion 1 of this ordinanoe shall devolve upon the property direotly abutting upon the property on that side of the street 'along whioh SUGh sidewalk has been oonstruGted. SeGtion 3. That the provisions of Chapter 37 of the Laws of Washington of the year 1905, the same being an aot entitled "AN ACT relating to maintenanoe, repair and renewal of side- ~ walks in cities of the first, seoond, third and fourth olass, and other oities and towns of equal popUlation working under speoial oharters, and providing for the payment thereof by the owners of abutting property", approved by the Governor February 24, 1905, shall apply and be enforoed in the olearing, repairing or renewing of all sidewalks or portions of sidewalks in the City of Auburn. Seotion 4. That all Glearing, repairs or renewals of side- walks, or portions thereof, referred to in Seotion 1 of this ordinance, shall be made under the direotion and supervision and to the satisfaotion of the sidewalk inspeotor of the City of Auburn; that the Sidewalk Inspeotor shall be allowed a reasonable sum as oompensation for his services in suoh direotion and supervision for eaGh sidewalk or portion thereof so cleared, repaired or renewed; and that the oompensation so allowed to the Sidewalk Inspeotor shall oonstitute a part of the oosts of suoh olearing, repairing or renewal and shall be inoluded in the lien against the abutting property as provided in said Chapter 37 of the Laws of Washington of the year 1905.
