CALL TO ORDER Mayor Nancy Backus called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers of Auburn City Hall, 25 West Main Street in Auburn. A. Roll Call Councilmembers present: Deputy Mayor Claude DaCorsi, Bob Baggett, James Jeyaraj and Chris Stearns. Councilmember Robyn Mulenga and Yolanda Trout-Manuel were excused and Councilmember Larry Brown was unexcused. Mayor Nancy Backus and the following department directors and staff members were present: City Attorney Kendra Comeau, Chief City Prosecutor Harry Boesche, Director of Administration Dana Hinman, Director of Public Works Ingrid Gaub, Director of Human Resources and Risk Management Candis Martinson, Development Services Manager Jason Krum, Economic Development Manager Doug Lein, Chief of Police Dan O'Neil and Deputy City Clerk Teresa Mattingly. II. DISCUSSION ITEMS A. City Organizational Overview- Legal Department (Comeau) City Attorney Comeau and Chief Prosecutor Boesche provided Council with an overview of the Legal Department and discussed the Civil, Criminal Prosecution and City Clerks divisions,what each division is responsible for, the department's organizational structure and the 2020 budget. Council discussed how the Legal Department and the City Clerk's office manages their workload, the average timeframe to complete a trial, if the prosecutor's office maintains records by race and what steps if any that Auburn takes to combat human trafficking. B. City Organizational Overview-Administration Department (Hinman) Director Hinman provided Council with an overview of the Department of Administration and discussed the four divisions in the department; Economic Development, Emergency Management, Facilities and Multimedia/Communications. Director Hinman reviewed the department's Page 1 of 2 current staffing and what each division is responsible for. She also discussed the homeless initiatives, Government Relations and overseeing contracts for the legislative services, Healthy Auburn Initiative and the Auburn Consolidated Resource Center. Council discussed what the facilities department is doing about cleaning the buildings and educating the staff and the public about the coronavirus. III. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business to come before the Council, the meeting was adjourned at 6:43 p.m. APPROVED this 16th day of March, 2020.
