Call to Order Mayor Booth called the meeting to order at 3:03 PM in the Mayor's Office located on the main floor of Auburn City Hall. Fire Relief and Pension Board Members present included Mayor Charles A. Booth, Finance Director Shelley Coleman, and Member Russ Vandver. Members Jeanne Barber and Dave Fugit were absent. Also present was City Clerk Danielle Daskam. II. Approval of Minutes Motion by Member Vandver, second by Member Coleman to approve the June 26, 2000 meeting minutes. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. 3-0 III. Unfinished Business There was no item for review under this section. IV. New Business A. Fire Relief and Pension Cost of LivinQ Increase Benefit The Board reviewed a memo dated June 8,2001 to Acting Finance Director Shelley Coleman from Financial Analyst/Payroll Supervisor Christina Ericksen regarding the Fire Relief and Pension benefit increase. The memo addressed the cost of living increase (COLA) in annual pension benefits to the pensioner beneficiary, Ms. Catherine E. Franklin. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, the 2000 CPI-U was 3.0%. The annual increase will be $395.23 Motion by Member Vandver, second by Member Coleman to approve an increase in annual pension benefits to the estate of Ben Franklin in the amount of 3.0% based on the 2000 CPI-U for an annual increase of $395.23. Approval of Claims Board members briefly reviewed fund expenses including $16,092 in administration fees, $183,228 in benefit payments, and $33,663 in long-term care insurance premiums for Fire Relief and Pension Members. The Fire Relief and Pension Fund has assets of $3.6 million. Motion by Member Vandver, second by Member Coleman to approve the 2000 expenses of the Fire Relief and Pension Fund. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. 3-0. C. Investment Authorization Motion by Member Vandver, second by Member Coleman to authorize the Treasurer of the City of Auburn to make such investments as may be appropriate from the Fire Relief and Pension Fund. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. 3-0. V.
